“Assay” is a term used by biochemists to summarize research methods to monitor biochemical processes. We have entered the field of assay development shortly after beginning of the new millenium by developing enzyme assays tailored to meet the specific needs of a pharmaceutical-industrial high-throughput screening (HTS) scenario in the search for new drugs (Nanosecond Time-Resolved Fluorescence Assays). Shortly after, we expanded our repertoire of enzyme assays by introducing supramolecular host molecules to assay enzymes previously unattainable with established concepts (Supramolecular Tandem Enzyme Assays). Most recently, we could now also reliably monitor small molecule transport across artificial cell membrane models (Supramolecular Tandem Membrane Assays).
